What is Get Active Victoria?

Get Active Victoria is inspiration for all Victorians—regardless of age, ability or location—to move more, every day. It’s an ever-growing resource of ideas, tips and tools to be more active and feel great as a result.

What are the benefits of joining Get Active Victoria?

Get Active Victoria is free to join, and gives you access to a huge resource of tips and tools to be more physically active. You won’t need any fancy gear and expensive equipment to try our guided videos or activity ideas. Join Get Active Victoria to access a goal-setting tool and an activity tracker, then see your progress on your own personal dashboard. You can also set up teams and see what activity your teammates are doing. Get Active Victoria has something for everyone.

Mobile App

Is the Get Active Victoria mobile app compatible with my iPhone or Android phone?

Yes, the app can be installed on Apple and Android devices.

Does the mobile app cost money to download?

No, the Get Active Victoria mobile app is free to download and use.

Does my phone need to be updated with the latest software for the mobile app to work?

Yes, we recommend installing the latest software on your phone to ensure the app works effectively.

Will I be informed if there is a new version of the app or do I need to update it manually?

Yes, you will receive an alert that a new version of the app is available and you will be prompted to update via the app store.

Can I track and update my activities when I have no reception?

No, the mobile app requires internet access.

Registration

When can I join?

You can join any time—Get Active Victoria is an ongoing initiative giving Victorians access to an ever-growing set of tools and resources for living a more active life.

What happens when I join?

You’ll be asked to verify your email address with a link we send you. After your account is verified, you’ll receive a welcome email.

The welcome email includes:

  • your account details
  • all the information you’ll need to get started with Get Active Victoria.

You can log in to Get Active Victoria to:

  • update your profile
  • access free workouts, challenges and games
  • track your activity
  • create or join teams with friends, family, and colleagues
  • refer a friend or add children under 15 to your account.
What happens if I don’t receive the verification email?

To finish opening your account, you need to click the link in the verification email sent to your registered email address.

If you don’t receive the email, please follow these steps:

  • check your junk or spam folders (search ‘Get Active Victoria’ or getactive@sport.vic.gov.au)
  • save our email address to your address book to ensure future emails come through.

It’s also possible an error was made when entering your email address during registration—if you’re still having problems receiving emails please contact us.

How do I register children?

Children under 12 or people without a personal email address can be added to your account.

How do I add a child to my account?
  1. Log in and go to PROFILE in the navigation bar. You can add a child to your account under Add Account Members. You can add up to 50 people to your account.
  2. When you add a child to your account, they will be given a unique username. Share this username and your password with your child so that they can login. When they login they can choose their own password.
What happens if I forget my password?

Don’t worry. From the LOGIN page, click ‘Reset Password’ and follow the prompts. We’ll send a reset password link to your inbox.

How will my personal information be used?

The privacy of your personal information is of paramount importance to us. Please view our Privacy Notice to understand how your information will be used.

Tracker

How do I track my activity?

Log in to Get Active Victoria , then click on TRACKER in the navigation bar. Update your activity manually, or, if you own a Fitbit, you can sync it with the tracker to update automatically. See How do I sync my Fitbit with Get Active Victoria?

How do I sync my Fitbit with Get Active Victoria?
  1. Log in to Get Active Victoria
  2. Head to PROFILE
  3. Under ‘My Fitbit’, click on the link to connect Fitbit
  4. Follow the prompts through to completion
  5. Your Fitbit should be connected and ready to track your activity automatically.
How do I record activity for my account members?

If you have added someone to your account, they can login using their unique username and password. Then they can add their own activity.

You can also switch between your account and an account member using the ‘Logged in as’ function.

  • go to ‘Logged in as’ in the top right corner of your dashboard
  • choose the Account Member from the drop down.

You can now add activity for your Account Member using the tracker.

How much activity should I do?

Aim for 30+ minutes of physical activity each day, or as many days as you can. You can break up the 30+ minutes into smaller sessions throughout the day.

Places

How do I find places?

Just go to PLACES in the navigation bar. You can search for a place to be active.

How do I search for a place?
  • Enter a suburb.
  • Select a place type (walk/bike trail, park, playground, exercise station or skatepark).
  • Find all locations within that search on the information panel on the left-hand side of the page.
  • Locations within that suburb will appear on the map. Click on the pin or information tab for more details about that place.
What are the place types?
  • Walk/bike trail—a paved or unpaved track that can be used for walking, running or bike riding.
  • Park—a local open space park, often includes other forms of active recreational activities.
  • Playground—equipment for children and families to enjoy.
  • Exercise station—free exercise equipment that has been built for the public to use.
  • Skatepark—an area that can be used to skateboard and ride bikes.
What amenities are listed?

You can see if a location has:

  • Toilets
  • Seating
  • Paved/unpaved trails
  • Parking
  • Drinking fountain
  • Lighting
  • If dogs are permitted/prohibited
  • Shade
  • BBQ facilities
  • All abilities accessibility
What is the map radius when I search a suburb?

Locations found in the search are within a 10km radius.

What happens when I select more than one place type?

More than one place type can be selected. Results for both place types will be shown. For example, if you select walk/bike trail and park, you will see all locations that have either a walk/bike trail or a park.

What does it mean when I click ‘All’ places?

If you select the ‘All’ button, you will see all locations that are within that suburb in a 10km radius.

Why doesn’t my suburb have any locations?

All places have been provided by Victorian councils. We will continue to add new places to ensure there are locations across Victoria for you to explore.

When will more places be added to the map?

Places on the map will be added every 6 months.

How do I rate a place?

Click on ‘add your rating’ in the information box for a selected place. Choose the star rating you would like to give to that location and select ‘Submit my rating’.

I’ve selected a walk/bike trail, is the pin at the start of that trail?

The pins for the walk/bike trails have been placed at either a start point, end point, key intersection, or location of public toilets, a carpark or information centre.

Do I need a Get Active Victoria account to look at Places?

No, you do not need an account. But if you register for Get Active Victoria you get access to an ever-growing set of tools and resources to live a more active life.
